At Bryerley Springs we invite schools and groups to try horse riding, as part of their enrichment programme or as an after school club.
Bryerley Springs holds a riding school license, has public liability insurance and is fully risk assessed. We are also currently in the process of applying for” Learning Outside the Classroom" approval (LoTC Badge). We are affiliated to the Pony Club, which ensures that our teaching is to an internationally recognised standard and enables riders to work towards achievement badges and efficiency tests.
Our facilities include both two indoor and two outdoor schools, in addition to 200 acres of off-road countryside riding. This ensures that lessons can be run in all weather conditions and offer a great variety in a safe environment.
All our staff are trained to a high level including safeguarding and first aid and have undergone enhanced DBS checks.
Sessions run weekly for a half or full term and can be tailored to the school’s needs. We also welcome one-off visits from the scouts and other groups.
The weekly sessions comprise 30 minutes of riding and 30 minutes of horse care (stable management).
Groups consist of a maximum of 8 children and we can run several alongside each other in one hour. This is suitable for all children aged 4 and over.
Horse care sessions will take place either in our club room or for "hands-on" activities will be under cover.
Parents will need to provide comfortable and warm clothing, as well as shoes with a small heel, such as Wellington boots. Warm and waterproof clothing is also essential. The riding hats are provided by us free of charge.
We are offering these sessions to schools and groups at a special rate at a discounted rate. Please contact us for more information.
The programme will be run in line with the Pony Club Progressive award which consists of elements of both riding and horse care.
On completion, each child receives a certificate to acknowledge their achievement.
We also run the AQA Unit Award Scheme for individual learners.
